This year's adventures....

Brighton Belle has set off on her next adventure! After a busy maintenance period, and with a brand new Yankee foresail, our shake-down sail took Brighton Belle to Holland over Easter. She came back to Brighton for a quick turnaround to take part in the "Dieppe Dash", a popular race over the early bank holiday weekend.

Summer programme: Channel Islands, West Country, France, Spain and Portugal

In late May Brighton Belle set sail to the Channel Isles, spending a few weeks exploring there, and then heading to Plymouth and the West Country. From there, she turned left towards Brest and then pottered along the West coast of France, stopping off for weekly crew changes, for example at Saint-Nazaire and La Rochelle. Many beautiful harbours, anchorages, islands and rivers lie along this splendid coast - and the food isn't bad in these parts either!

In mid-August BB gave her 'Au Revoirs' to France, to sail along the bold, mountainous green coast between France and Galicia. Little visited by yachts, this is a very rugged coastline, especially when the the 2,560m high Picos mountains are in the background. BB will call in for changeovers at Bilbao, A Coruna and Vigo to give successive crews the opportunity to explore the delights of this area- harbours, beautiful bays and coves, food, wine and of course plenty of wonderful sailing.

Autumn and winter: Canaries cruising

After several weeks pottering around the Spanish Rias, BB will continue into Portugal, heading to Lisbon, then the Algarve. From Lagos BB will cross over to Lanzarote in November, perhaps calling in at Madeira en route. She will then spend the next few weeks in and around Lanzarote, hosting a variety of crews keen to escape the dark dreary UK winter.

In January, after a couple of weeks routine maintenance, BB will explore the other Canary Islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma, providing many opportunities for some great sailing, walking and relaxation in the winter sunshine.
