Autumn and winter: Canaries cruising

After a busy summer season pottering around the Channel Islands, West Country, France, Spain and Portugal, Brighton Belle crossed from Lagos to Lanzarote in November 2019. Since then members have completed some 'winter' maintenance) and had a great time exploring the Canaries - Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera and La Palma - providing many opportunities for some great sailing, walking and relaxation in the winter sunshine.

Brighton Belle will remain in the Canaries until the end of March, and we have availability of some of the upcoming cruises - do have a look at our calendar and join us if you can.

2020 programme: Lanzarote - Plymouth - Norway and back!

In April Brighton Belle is heading back from the Canaries to the UK - a great ocean passage of 1,800nm! With possible stopovers in Madeira and / or the Azores, the route will of course be weather-dependent. So fingers crossed for favourable winds and a smooth journey for our three experienced skippers and crew!

Brighton Belle will then sail from Plymouth to Dublin, to Oban and through the Caledonian Canal from Fort William to Inverness.

The Great Glen Canal is over 55 NM in length, 20 NM of the waterway are man-made and the remaining 35 NM are made up of Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy. There are 12 locks and 6 bridges along the cruising route, all of which are manned by bridge and lock keepers.

Once safely on the west coast of Scotland, we'll head to Kirkwall, and from there across the North Sea to Bergen. Successive crews will explore the area between Bergen and Oslo, with several weeks exploring the fjords around Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansund and of course the Oslo fjords. We'll be there during the mid-summer season, enjoying long days and very short nights. If 2018's passage to the Faroes is anything to go by, the light will be just magical!

Our summer cruising programme will be published in the next couple of weeks, so WATCH THIS SPACE and book early to avoid disappointment!
