Membership of the Brighton Belle Sailing Club requires a one-off payment of £4,000. There are no yearly membership fees.
There are 64 membership shares in total and shares are still available at the time of writing. When these have been taken membership will be closed.
The ongoing running costs of the boat, which include insurance, maintenance costs, annual marina fees, etc., are all recovered from the sailing fees paid by everyone on board when she sails.
As a member you may sail as much as you like, or as little, but we hope that members will sail for at least one week each year.
During the cruise, crew members also split the costs of food, drink, mooring fees, fuel, etc. This typically works out at about £100 - £150 per person per week on top of sailing fees.
To keep maintenance costs down, we like to do as much of the maintenance work as we can ourselves. Some of our members enjoy this aspect of Brighton Belle and those with the relevant skills are happy servicing the engine and the sailing gear, etc. We also get together to clean the decks and her beautiful interior to keep her in good condition. All members are encouraged to get involved in this work, and of course, the trip to the pub afterwards.
Where we do not have the necessary expertise within the club, we employ specialists to maintain Brighton Belle in safe and serviceable condition.
So that's it! Simple, low cost sailing through membership with a group of like-minded sailing enthusiasts. To be accepted as a member we need to sail with you, ideally you will join a short cruise as a provisional member so that you can meet some of us and we can meet you.
Come for a day-sail and meet us soon. We promise you a warm welcome.
